Poem of Admiration

“CARDIAC VOICE”

As I look at you

From a distant place

My heart is pumping

Beating in a place

Yours is the beauty

Even Venus will envy

You’re much prettier

Than goddess Aphrodite

Your eyes twinkle

Like the stars in the zenith

Your fair complexion

As white as the snow

With your long hair

Seems floating in the air

And your pink lips

I dread to have a kiss

As you look at me

From a distant place

My arms are shaking

And my knees trembling

I felt so weak

At the same time flying

I feel so numb

I feel like dying

Oh! Your beauty

Is like a melody

Of a sweet music

Playing for eternity

Like the song and hymn

Of heavenly seraphims

Singing along

With holy cherubims

Oh! Your beauty

I love to behold

Like a clear river

Calmly flowing forever

Like a clear sky

Songbirds that fly

And colorful rainbow

From a distant I admire

You are an angel

A sight of wonder

At your presence

I can’t stare longer

Shyness defeats my confidence

That my pure intentions

I cannot express

Oh! My angel

I wish I could try

To come near you

Or even say “hi”

To let you know

How much I admire

Your incomparable prettiness

Your immeasurable loveliness

That stands out above the rest

Eternity

“College is… where you go if you want to continue studying after high school.” (Another non sense from me. LOL!)

College life is the best part of student life. Unlike what I keep on hearing from others, I enjoyed college life more than my high school days. Jumping from three different schools allowed me to meet different people, with different personalities, and from different walks of life. It also exposed me to different ideas.

But I am not writing this to reminisce about the past. Along with the poem “Minsang nilibot ko ang Pilipinas” which I posted on my previous blog with the same title, I also found some other writings. One of them is a poem that I wrote while we were having a retreat somewhere I totally forgot. All I can remember is the ambience, the setting and the environment inspired to write a religious poem.

Eternity

With the sun shining brightly,

Its warmth touches me;

I feel that God is hugging me.

With the tall trees growing around me,

Giving me shade and security;

I feel that God is protecting me.

And the goat eating grass beside me,

Pauses and stares at me

As if to tell me that God is watching over me.

And the birds I see,

Soaring from tree to tree;

They sing that God is with me.

And the white butterflies,

Flying beside me;

Reminds me that God is always beside me.

I felt the serenity,

And I remembered…

The sun will stop shining;

The trees will stop growing;

The goat will stop eating;

The birds will stop singing;

The butterflies will stop flying;

But the Lord will never stop loving!

Paglalakbay ay naisipan;

Libutin malawak na kapuluan

Ako ay nagsimula sa Timog Kanluran,

Dalawang babae aking namasdan;

Mga nakaupo sa sementong upuan

Suot nila’y maaiksi

Damit nila’y puro hapit,

Animo’y tela pinagkait

Nagpatuloy asko sa Silangan,

Doon isang babae ang namataan;

Siya’y nilapitan ng dalawang kalalakihan,

Agad niyang inakbayan

At siya’y hinawakan sa baywang

Lumiko ako pahilaga,

At doon ko napansin,

Isanag lalaking dayuhan;

Nakasandal sa bakod ng kapuluan.

Kausap niya’y dalawang kababaihan,

Sila’y pawang naglalambingan

Sa banda roon may nakahigang lalaki,

Sa malamig na semento nahihimbing.

Suot niya’y damit na dungisin,

Buhok magulo, hindi nasusuklay;

Malawak na parke ang kanyang bahay

Narating ko ang dulong Hilaga,

Doon may babae’t lalaki nagyayakapan,

Di nila pinapansin;

Maraming matang nakatingin

Tinungo ko ang Hilagang-kanluran,

Apat na kabataang wala pa sa gulang,

Masayang nagkukuwentuhan;

Isang yosi pinagpapasapasahan

Ako ay tumigil

Tumingin sa kapaligiran

Aking namasdan

Maya-maya pa sila’y tumayo;

Sa nakatigil na kotse sila ay lumapit,

Ilang sandali at sila’y bumalik;

“Bakla pala ang hanap”, aking narinig

Isang gabing nilibot ko ang Pilipinas,

Kaydami ng aking nasaksihan,

Samu’t saring tao ang namasdan;

At dito ko napatunayan

Sa panahon ng tagtuyot at kahirapan,

Patalim talagang nahahawakan
